Grinding Stones

Allied's grinding wheels are made of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide. Silicon carbide is extremely hard but brittle. Aluminum oxide is slightly softer but is tougher than silicon carbide. It dulls more quickly, but it does not fracture easily therefore it is better suited for grinding materials of relatively high tensile strength.

Use Al2O3 for grinding ferrous metals and alloys. Silicon Carbide is recommended for grinding non-ferrous metals such as Titanium and Aluminum or when mixing non-ferrous and ferrous metals. Dimensions listed are diameter x thickness x arbor hole. ALUMINUM OXIDE GRINDING STONE SAFETY DATA SHEETSILICON CARBIDE GRINDING STONE SAFETY DATA SHEET
